 Happy first Friday of November! We have already learned about nouns and verbs, and this week we learned about adjectives.  What is an adjective?  Your child will have their quiz to show you today! Each Friday the kids will do a quiz on the grammar learned that week.  I will send the quizes home once they are marked so you can see where your child is doing well, or may need some extra work. In math, we continue to work on our 3 digit addition with regrouping and 2 digit subtraction.  We've also been practicing identifying number patterns, adding money, identifying fractions and solving word problems.  Your child will have their quiz to show you today! In social studies, we have started a project on researching an animal and the region it lives in. In science, we have started a project on building a 3D representation of slow and fast changes and landforms.  Please bring cardboard or other matterials from home to use on Monday. Read to Win A sheet was sent home with your child for a home reading program, Read to Win by Laser City.  Each completed sheet will be entered into the draw and names will be drawn at the end of each month for a pass for 2 free games of laser tag.   Happy Reading!  Happy Friday!  I can't believe it's already October! The kids have enjoyed Alien In-Line skating.   We have been practicing our 2 and 3 digit addition with and without regrouping. In social studies, we used Google Earth to explore landmarks in Alberta. Ask me what I learned. Happy Friday!  We appreciate everyone who was able to attend our Orange Shirt Day assembly.  Our students learned so much about Truth and Reconciliation and what celebrating Orange Shirt Day means.  Why do we have this day?  Why is it important to remember and learn about the past? We reviewed verbs this week.  What is a verb? We continue to practice our sentence writing to make our ideas clear and complete. In math, we are solving number patterns, reading and understanding word problems and adding money.  Do you know the value and names of all the coins?  Happy Fri-Yay! This week in grammar we reviewed nouns.  Ask your child what is a noun?  Can they give you some examples?  We did a quiz on Friday and I will be sending this home next week.  Moving forward, most friday we will be writing a grammar quiz on different grammar rules.  Check in with your child to see how they are doing. In math, we have been reviewing double digit addition with regrouping.  We will be moving quite quickly in math this year and I encourage regular check-in's with your child to see how they are doing.  Happy Fri-yay! That's a wrap on week 2!   In math, have been reviewing our 2 digit addition with regrouping skills.  Practice a few questions at home. We enjoyed getting together with our grade 2 buddies and creating nature art. Our Terry Fox Run was a great success.  We learned about courage and perseverence and how to keep going even when something is hard. Please return yellow parent viewpoint next week.
