Have a wonderful spring break ! In math, we are focusing on multiplication and division.  If your child is having difficulty with their facts up to 10 x 10 please practice with them at home.  There is a big jump from the end of grade 3 to grade 4 and knowing their facts is important. In social studies we designed our own machine that uses renewable energry to complete a job.  Ask your child what they created and what renewable energy they used. In science we contiued to learn about simple machines. In grammar, we did a unit review on what we learned so far.  We also focused on writing and using descriptive words. Thank you to everyone who came to parent teacher conferences.  It is always nice to meet in person and discuss your child. Happy Friday the 13th! Science: Please send in recycleable items to use for building our simple machines for our leprechaun traps. We will be building them on Monday so all materials need to be at school.  I wonder if we will catch any? We continue to learn about renewable resources and how they are used. In math, we are going to be focusing on multiplication and division.  The kids should be able to do 3 digit addition and subtraction with regrouping.  Try a little check in with your child and see if they are able to regroup.  Also, practice your multiplication facts up to 10 x 10.   During Parent-Teacher Conferences on   Thursday, March 19   and   Friday, March 20 , we invite families to place a colourful push pin on our world map located in our Learning Commons to show where their family comes from.  Friday February 27, 2026 We continue to work on developing our overall writing skills. In math, we are working on telling time, number patterns, word problems, and continuing to solidify our multiplicatioin and division facts.  Happy Friday!! I am so happy to be back in the classroom with the kids.   This week in math we have continued to work on division and multiplication.  We are also practising telling time, solving word problems and reading a table using tallies for information. In literacy, we almost finished up our class novel, Ollie's Odyssey.  Ask me about the book.  We have been focusing on our writing, including sentence structure, increasing the amount we write, and focusing on correct grammar.  We also learned about adverbs. In science, we are learning about simple machines and force. In social studies this week, we talked about Lunar New Year.  We are in the year of the fire horse.  Do you know what animal is yours?   This week we reviewed 3-digit addition with regrouping and will review subtraction next week.  We will be moving on to multiplication soon, so please practice your addition and subtraction skills. In social studies, we continue to research for our animal and regions project. In science, we are working on our building project and learning about invasive species.  Happy first Friday of November! We have already learned about nouns and verbs, and this week we learned about adjectives.  What is an adjective?  Your child will have their quiz to show you today! Each Friday the kids will do a quiz on the grammar learned that week.  I will send the quizes home once they are marked so you can see where your child is doing well, or may need some extra work. In math, we continue to work on our 3 digit addition with regrouping and 2 digit subtraction.  We've also been practicing identifying number patterns, adding money, identifying fractions and solving word problems.  Your child will have their quiz to show you today! In social studies, we have started a project on researching an animal and the region it lives in. In science, we have started a project on building a 3D representation of slow and fast changes and landforms.  Please bring cardboard or other matterials from home to use on Monday.
