 Happy Friday!!

I am so happy to be back in the classroom with the kids.  

This week in math we have continued to work on division and multiplication.  We are also practising telling time, solving word problems and reading a table using tallies for information.

In literacy, we almost finished up our class novel, Ollie's Odyssey.  Ask me about the book.  We have been focusing on our writing, including sentence structure, increasing the amount we write, and focusing on correct grammar.  We also learned about adverbs.

In science, we are learning about simple machines and force.

In social studies this week, we talked about Lunar New Year.  We are in the year of the fire horse.  Do you know what animal is yours?

 Happy Fri-yay! That's a wrap on week 2!   In math, have been reviewing our 2 digit addition with regrouping skills.  Practice a few questions at home. We enjoyed getting together with our grade 2 buddies and creating nature art. Our Terry Fox Run was a great success.  We learned about courage and perseverence and how to keep going even when something is hard. Please return yellow parent viewpoint next week. If you have not returned the green forms for the office, please send them in next week. Happy Friday!  We appreciate everyone who was able to attend our Orange Shirt Day assembly.  Our students learned so much about Truth and Reconciliation and what celebrating Orange Shirt Day means.  Why do we have this day?  Why is it important to remember and learn about the past? We reviewed verbs this week.  What is a verb? We continue to practice our sentence writing to make our ideas clear and complete. In math, we are solving number patterns, reading and understanding word problems and adding money.  Do you know the value and names of all the coins?
