 Happy Friday!

We read a book called My Monster and Me.  We discussed big feelings, such as anxiety and worries and how we can recognise this in ourselves to help us feel better.  We discussed positive strategies that might help us when we are feeling worried.

We are doing a science/social studies project.  We have to build a machine using simple machines to load a resource onto a vehical to move it from one region in Alberta to another.  We have to use at least 4 simple machines in it.

We talked about Autism Awareness Month.  We read books and shared our feelings about autism.  We learned that some kids just learn differently.

In math, we are working on memorizing our multiplication facts up to 12 x 12.  

This week in grammar we learned concrete and abstract nouns.

Please send in all signed forms for our upcoming field trip to the Phiharmonic Orchestra.

Grade 2 & 3 Spring Concert

McKenzie Towne School is excited to present "Singing Through the Seasons," our Spring Concert for the Grade 2 and 3 classes on Thursday April 23rd. 

The dress rehearsal is open to families to come watch. Please note, there may be pauses during this performance to fine tune some details. 

Dress Rehearsal:

Grade 2: 11:00am -11:30am

Grade 3: 1:30pm - 2:00pm 

Evening Performance:

Grade 2: 5:00pm - 5:30pm (doors open at 4:30) 

Grade 3: 6:30pm - 7:00pm (doors open at 6:00)

 Happy Fri-yay! That's a wrap on week 2!   In math, have been reviewing our 2 digit addition with regrouping skills.  Practice a few questions at home. We enjoyed getting together with our grade 2 buddies and creating nature art. Our Terry Fox Run was a great success.  We learned about courage and perseverence and how to keep going even when something is hard. Please return yellow parent viewpoint next week. If you have not returned the green forms for the office, please send them in next week.  Happy Fri-Yay! This week in grammar we reviewed nouns.  Ask your child what is a noun?  Can they give you some examples?  We did a quiz on Friday and I will be sending this home next week.  Moving forward, most friday we will be writing a grammar quiz on different grammar rules.  Check in with your child to see how they are doing. In math, we have been reviewing double digit addition with regrouping.  We will be moving quite quickly in math this year and I encourage regular check-in's with your child to see how they are doing. We have been practicing for our Orange Shirt Day assembly.  We are looking forward to sharing our learning on September 26 and hope to see many of you there.
